The Scrolls That Stole My Time

The house is quiet past midnight
Only blinking blue light
Phone screen shining on my face
Like a small and restless moon

“Just one more,” I softly whispered
Just one scroll before I sleep
But the clips keep on running
And they slowly carried me away

Little red lights keep on blinking
Calling softly from the screen
Laughing faces, dancing strangers
Places I have never been

All the plans I made this morning
All the work I meant to do
Drift away between the scrolls
Like the fading morning dew

And a small voice in the silence
Whispers something soft and slow
“Are you living in this moment
Or just watching others go?”

Oh the scrolls that stole my time
Kept my eyes awake all night
Scroll by scroll the hours were fading
In that pale and quiet light

The whole world was at my window
But I never stepped outside
Just a watcher in the darkness
As the endless stories slide

So many voices in the night
So many things to see
Every scroll another doorway
Pulling harder on me

We are laughing with the strangers
We are clapping from afar
But our own songs stay unspoken
Quiet where our dreams are

Maybe we don’t have to leave it
Maybe we don’t have to run
Maybe we can change the story
Maybe we can be the ones

Write a line, or sing a memory
Paint a moment from your day
Let your voice join in the river
Not just drifting far away

Let the glow become your canvas
Let the screen become your stage
Turn the endless scroll of watching
Into words upon a page

You don’t have to stop the river
You just learn to guide the flow
When you start to make the stories
You’re no longer lost in scrolls

Now the blue light feels much softer
Morning slowly fills the sky
And the time I thought was stolen
Was just waiting for my try

Not just watching other lives
While the silent hours roll
Now the stories start with me
Not another endless scroll
